h&m skirt

Today I wore my skirt from h&m.  It's a size 2 and I'm normally more comfortable in 4 just because it'd be longer but it's so... cute and bouncy I'm not worried about my butt showing!

I tried to look nice today because today was special-I got my braces off! Finally... I don't really know how to smile because I've never smiled with teeth in my life because I had a gap before and then braces so this is very new for me but super exciting!!

As you can see my wedges from urban are getting beat up...

Thought I'd show off my new leather jacket!  I got it at my favorite consignment shop in Pittsburgh but it's from H&M, and it was $20; that's fortunate as they're retail $50< !

recent buys!

I've been home for break so I haven't had much time for lookbook, but now that I'm in a city again of course I've been shopping!!

I found these Baker's Shoes mary jane platform pumps at the Salvation Army for $4! They were brand new too.  The style is "Melani".  They are actually really comfortable.

I also found this canvas/leather purse at the Salvation Army! $5.  It didn't have any signs of wear but the point is I needed a large, beautiful purse like this.. I love the colors together.  And it has so many compartments.

The last thing I bought from Salvation Army was this blue button down, because while I had found the Baker's mary janes, and the purse I was creating an outfit in my head to wear that night and I really wanted a denim or blue button down.  Not sure if I really want it anymore it's really large... but then again I only  brought a suitcase of clothes home from college and need as much variety as possible.

I got the LV wallet at a vintage consignment shop for $12.

My favorite purchase in this picture is the fold up flats! I'm always wearing heels at night especially and can't bear to walk in them after a few hours, and you basically just fold these flats up to put in your purse for that occasion!  They were $12.99 at TJ Maxx :):). 

The orange Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm is great, but a bit too red (it's cherry).  I only like red lips when I wear red lipstick.. I'm not into the whole "lip stain" stuff.  I had peach before and I really liked the color but it was sold out.  And I got a portable hairbrush because yesterday I woke up at my friends house without one and had to make it home sporting a rats nest.

I probably won't wear these as just emergency flats :)

Finally, I painted my nails. This OPI shade is from last easter, "Do You Lilac It?".

I think it's the neatest job I've ever done.. lol.

sunglasses

Ever since I got contacts I've been accumulating sunglasses.  Still more to come, though!  My newest pair, the circle ones are sort of half tone but I want really dramatic half tone shades.  I also want pop up lady gaga ones.  It's odd that I am really into sunglasses-I just don't have the face for them.  I look very insect like.

On a side note, fashionbff.com emailed me and I did an interview with them!

My metrosexual Asian friend told me that my face couldn't really work these sunglasses, but I disagree!  Certainly my hair has to work with it though.  Anyway, my necklace is a gift from my grandmother, it's from the Russian olympics or something a long time ago.  

I have to admit, for this look, I drew inspiration from lookbooker Lua P. She has an excellent way of layering pieces and it really helped me utilize this jacket that I've never worn, but of course the denim shirt I wear all the time!

beer shampoo

My hair has been a little dull, lackluster, and not that soft lately so I searched around online for at home remedies and found the perfect one.  A beer rinse!  I had two day old beers in my fridge and of course flat beer is the most disgusting thing to drink ever, so here's what I did:

1. Took the beer out of the fridge, placed it on the shower floor while I loofah'd so it'd warm up. (Cold beer would be a pretty huge shock to a warm scalp)
2. After I used my regular shampoo, I began pouring it on my head. Haha.  I rinsed it out, and applied conditioner. It really smelled before I washed out the conditioner but it doesn't smell at all now.  My hair is RIDICULOUSLY SOFT.

Why does beer leave hair so wonderful? Some people say its due to all the carbs in it, and they deposit into hair. :~)

military jacket

This is like the most awkward jacket in the world. (from urban outfitters)  I got it on ebay though, for somewhat cheap last year.  It's never even been cold enough to inconvenience my comfort by wearing it when I was in Pittsburgh, but it's perfect for Bradford.  Its just really padded and has so many different strings to use to make it look fitted. (yes i am wearing grey soffes under haha-i had an oversized sweater on but decided it was too cold to take a winter shot without a coat.  I had really cool bifocal chained dark shades on but they don't really fit my face.

ANYWAY, over break I am completely changing my blogs layout. It's too blah, and I'm tired of double side bars. I'm going to work really hard on this so be excited! Back to studying for finals...

BTW yesterday I bought these really cool makeup removing and face washing wipes (two in one!) I think I'm going to do a review on all the wipes I've ever tried (neutrogena, loreal, garnier brand, and now cvs).  These are the best!

Finals are really getting me down.  But I'm going to strive to post looks a lot more frequently, even though I am running out of creative outfits....

The gaussian blur is a little messy because my camera has been taking out of focus pictures, but I will make a gaussian blur tutorial soon.  I'm really excited to start work with youtube, I'm waiting to receive my recent order with http://wholesale-dress.net, and I will do a review on the quality.  I also want to do makeup reviews and perhaps my photoshop tutorials can be videos? I'm not sure. I find it easier to work with photographs when I'm trying to learn something.

I really need to do something creative with my hair. Perhaps get defined bangs and more dramatic ombre.

iPad vs. Netbook for fashion blogging

The netbook in question right now is the MacBook air, however any 11inch or smaller laptop could be substituted in your mind.

 don't know what I'd rather do on the iPad than my MacBook!  I was reading IFB however and there was an article about how an iPad is really convenient to carry around, and just blog.. anywhere, especially fashion week!

Well, I'm not at the point where I attend fashion week and my macbook only weight probably a pound more than the iPad 2.  Also, in terms of blogging, its not as quick and simple to upload photos also there's no SD slot or anything to edit photos from an SLR directly on the iPad. 

I believe that in a few years an iPad will definitely be more practical, but not at the moment.
