what's in my bag

I got back from Arkansas Saturday night and was INSTANTLY thrown back into an everyday of the week work schedule.  I wish I could blog or photograph at least while there are no customers at the hookah bar, but whatever I guess it is good to practice remaining professional even in extreme boredom.

Also, another side note on my personal life-I came back home and our basement is filled with flies.  Meaning that I've had to take legit baths when I need to get clean and that's just really ruining my life in terms of time and efficiency-anyone have any favorite bubble baths they'd like to recommend?

Anyhow, on my new camera... I am a DSLR noob. It's such a weighty camera as well, so self timer pics will have to remain "coming soon", but I did do a what's in my bag type shoot :)  If anyone at all has tips on DSLRs, especially older ones like mine that don't have live view, PLEASE comment!!!
My ultimate short term goal with this camera is to learn to lens blur.

I got this bag in a Goodwill store in Hot Springs, AR.. It was $4, and it's by "Olivia+Joy", when I looked at their website most of their bags are $60+, and this one was in really good condition. ^_^
The tail I also got in Hot Springs, at a jewel mining shop that sold little souvenirs.  It's real fur, but was only $2.95... that's sort of sad.

The wallet I've had, my mom got it for me for Christmas. I carry my passport because it's my only form of ID.   My Marc Jacobs Daisy rollerball is quite possibly my favorite thing :D

I'm going to practice more on my camera and hopefully post more tomorrow!

giveaway winners (FINALLY) + trip to arkansas

First and foremost I would like to announce the much delayed giveaway winners :

  1. Romwe $50 Gift Certificate + Backless Shift Dress: Hannah from http://doodleheartx.blogspot.com/
  2. Glamour Kills Galaxy Tank Top:  Siarra from blog.siarraculbertson.com
  3. Glamour Kills Psyched Crop Top: SassyBella (didn't leave a blog name)
This week I am visiting family in Arkansas!  I have never been in the south at all. It's an interesting experience.  It's nice to be able to relax for a week, get some color, and check out thrift stores of course ^_^

So far I have purchased a few nice things from thrift stores here, including an outfit which I rejuvenated using scissors that will be revealed tomorrow!

Oh yeah.. I also got a new camera.. my first DSLR!!!!!!! My dad ever so kindly gifted me his old Canon EOS 20D.  I have wanted needed a DSLR camera for so long. Ever since Lookbook became a hobby of mine, I have wanted to take more professional photos, but felt limited by my point-and-shoot Canon SX30.  Which is still an awesome camera, with a flip out screen, however my first roadblock with it was when I partnered with Sugarlips and they asked for high-res photos and while yes, the SX30 can take high res photos the quality and lighting and coloring and pixels themselves simply did not look good no matter how many masks/layers/Photoshop filters I used.

So here is my last Lookbook photo I took a few days ago with the SX30.  Also, goals from now on regarding this blog include labeling every article of clothing worn with a description on how I obtained it & I'm going to work on creating a more sophisticated theme.  :)

earcuffs!

With my studded bag I also received the cutest pair of ear cuffs from romwe!
I wasn't exactly sure how to rock them at first, I thought the entire gold ear part was supposed to show, but I mean, that's how it attaches to your ear-from behind.

I got these ear cuffs from http://romwe.com.

Also lately I've been working on my hair a bit, making my ombre more intense and my grown out undercut more blonde without any roots.  I just want it to grow!

Anyone have tips on speeding up hair growth? (:

starscape outfit 2012

I'm so excited for Starscape tomorrow I just had to share my outfit!
The bandeau was only $5 at Forever 21, and the Romwe bag is just to die for.  It was approximately $50 and shipping was fast.  I've had the shorts forever and the belt is thrifted-I'm quite sure it's for a little girl or something.  I hope I get some color on my skin :)

Romwe has not yet contacted me about the giveaway winner, so I will continue to hold off on announcing all the winners until they do.  Sorry for the delay!

flatline

These wedges are from Forever 21 and they're basically falling apart. I've worn them through some inclement weather a few times, yes however they shouldn't be in this awful condition.  I'm retiring them soon, and it's really got me thinking twice about buying wedges from Forever 21 even though I was there last week and they have these gorgeous studded *almost* nightwalk replicas that I can't find online.
They also have fake Lita's, but only in a strange brown color which is nice however it wouldn't match anything I own.  The fake Lita's are actually MORE comfortable than the real ones-I remember when I first received my pink glitter ones I was so surprised at how light they were, which isn't a bad thing but the material was stiff and cheap feeling.  Not talking shit on Lita's, I love them.
The dress is my roommate's, from Urban Outfitter's, circa a few years ago when they actually had nice form fitting stylish dresses.  I do like a lot of their bodycon cutout dresses, however UO tries to be very edgy with strange unflattering clothing...

exploration

First things first! I got featured on GK's website (:

I just realized I have a huge park 5 minutes walking distance away from my house, and there are SO many unique places to photograph.  I chose a simple location for this look, however I am excited to venture further into the woods and graffitied city park areas. The best part is there are so many places that not a lot of people come to, which allows for relaxation and peace.  I also can't wait until the pool opens (it's in the park too)!  I just wish bathing suits pieces weren't sold separately, I mean it lets you mix n match HOWEVER you shouldn't have to pay $80 for a bikini top.  Just because it's made of fabric that can be in the water a lot doesn't automatically make it super durable.
